USA Archery names Sara Crowell as High Performance Director

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Archery (USAA) has selected Sara Crowell, an experienced Olympic Performance Manager, as USAA’s High Performance Director.

Crowell will lead the United States Archery Team and High Performance Programs, including the Resident Athlete Program, National Elite Program, Regional Elite Program and Short-Term Training Program for USAA, the sports national governing body (NGB).

“We are thrilled to welcome Sara to USAA,” said Mary Emmons, USAA Chief of Sport Performance and Operations. “Sara brings a wealth of experience as a former U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) Sport Performance Advisor.

“Her prior experience in assisting NGB’s with high performance strategic and tactical planning, and use of data analytics to expand and elevate athlete performance, will be a tremendous asset to USAA.”

Crowell served in the role as Olympic Performance Advisor at the USOPC for the past nine years, where she collaborated with 19 NGB’s to guide high performance planning. The goal was to support annual fund allocation, direct athlete support and tailored sport performance resources to maximize athletes’ opportunities to achieve medal winning success among other duties.

“I am thrilled to join the USA Archey team with the goal of continuing to build upon the incredible legacy of this sport,” commented the new High Performance Director. “With a home Games on the horizon, it’s undoubtedly an exciting time for archery in the United States. I look forward to working alongside coaches and athletes as we strive for continued success on the world stage.”

Crowell  will serve to further strengthen the High Performance department and is joining following  Elias Cuesta being named as the new National Head Coach and USAA staff member Samantha Bauer being newly named as the High Performance Manager.

Bauer will report to the new High Performance Director, as will the coaching staff and International Teams Manager, Allison Collins. In addition to Coach Cuesta, the USA Archery coaching staff includes National Assistant Head Coach Chris Webster and Paralympic Head Coach Jonathan Clemins, who both led the USAA teams to medals at last year’s Olympic and Paralympic Games respectively.
