COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado -- USA Archery’s Achievement Award Program is designed to celebrate the accomplishments of archers of all ages and abilities as they progress in the sport from the most beginner to incredibly advanced levels of success. The JOAD Olympian and Adult Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards mark the highest of those achievements and USA Archery is proud to congratulate many archers on their achievements this past winter.
Top ranked U18 barebow archer Erin Heyob, who recently won both the 2022 Indoor Nationals and Arizona Cup, also earned the indoor and outdoor Gold Olympian Awards in the past few months. Heyob shared: "From the time I started shooting competitively, reaching gold Olympian was always one of my goals. It took me a while, but over time I built up the technical skills and the mindset needed to achieve this with the help of my coach, Stuart Anderton, and my teammates. Every time I felt like giving up, they helped me get back on my feet and continue training. Looking back, it was a learning experience. I learned to push my limits so I could see how far I could go if I wasn't afraid of falling."
These awards are part of the USA Archery Achievement Program, which provides achievement award pins for progressive scoring achievements, and encourages youth and adult archers to accomplish goals in the sport of archery.
In addition to a certificate and pin, Bronze JOAD Olympian awards are recognized with a backpack, Silver JOAD Olympian awards are recognized with a lightweight jacket, and Gold JOAD Olympian awards are recognized with a belt buckle.
