COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – USA Archery is proud to announce the 2020 Collegiate Archery Program All-American Team. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the spring 2020 collegiate archery season was cancelled, so for this year, these honors were calculated exclusively on results from the USA Archery Indoor Nationals. The All-American Team designation marks the top archers in the collegiate program each year and is a great accolade for these archers and their schools.
USA Archery shares the heartbreak of our collegiate archers and coaches on the loss of this season, but we are glad we are still able to celebrate successes with these prestigious awards. USA Archery CEO Rod Menzer shared: “On behalf of USA Archery, congratulations to the 2020 All-American Team. This is a tough year and we are proud of all of you and your accomplishments. We celebrate your outstanding performances this year so far and look forward to seeing you on the field again soon.”
Columbia University’s Sachiko Keane commented: “Even though we had an abbreviated season I would not have been able to achieve my indoor success without my teammates, coach and family for support. As a first-year it was hard to find the balance between trying to maintain the level of competitive shooting I have had in the past and the new rigors of academic life. I am very happy that my efforts enable me to be recognized as an All-American.”
“Receiving this award is so exciting and definitely something I’ve been working towards since I started shooting,” commented Cole Luburgh of Hocking College. “I want to thank USA Archery, my family, friends and my coaches over the years for all of their support and pushing me to become a better archer. Without their support I never would have received an award as awesome as All-American!”
The 2020 All-American Team is composed of to the Top 25% of archers (rounded up to nearest whole number) in each Division and Class that participated in the U.S. National Indoors in the same division (maximum 10) and was calculated by taking the arrow average from the USA Archery Indoor Nationals. Scores are calculated to three decimal places, similar to USA Archery United States Archery Team (USAT) results. The maximum point value an archer can receive is 10. In 2021, the award will revert to the standard calculation, where scores from Indoor Nationals and Collegiate Target Nationals are used to determine placement on the team.
USA Archery will be following up with archers via email with information on sponsor benefits and will be mailing out medals and certificates when staff is able to return to the national offices.
