COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – As the global health situation continues to evolve and travel restrictions are changing regularly and on a state by state basis, USA Archery, with input and support from the USA Archery Athlete Advisory Council and Board of Directors, has updated the 2021 Archery World Cup and other International Team selection procedures to ensure United States Archery Team (USAT) competition this year is not compulsory and unforeseen circumstances will not impact 2021 international team selection.
We are excited to hold USAT events and look forward to welcoming archers who are safely able to travel and compete. USA Archery is in close contact with our event hosts and organizers, who are working carefully with CVBs and local health authorities to ensure our events comply with local and state guidelines for safe and healthy events. Those who choose to attend should rest assured we are taking every precaution necessary to hold safe and fair events. For those who choose not to attend or are unable to attend, there will not be negative consequences.
USA Archery will still name a 2021 United States Archery Team (USAT), and archers who make USAT will be recognized with a certificate of achievement, USAT jersey and other athlete benefits from our generous sponsors.
However, the eligibility requirements and selection processes for the Archery World Cup Selection Procedures have been updated. For instance, athletes who meet all necessary eligibility requirements as outlined in the procedures will be selected to participate in the events as follows:
All international team selection procedures are available here.
Direct Athlete Support (DAS) for senior recurve archers will continue to be based on Olympic Trials rankings per the DAS Supplemental Information. It is important to note that USA Archery Direct Athlete Support may increase or decrease from year to year, and the number of athletes supported by USA Archery Direct Athlete Support may increase or decrease from year to year. USA archery will publish updates to 2021 Direct Athlete Support Information prior to 2021.
Registration is still open for Outdoor Nationals and all USAT series events. For archers and coaches who are looking for more ways to engage from home, be sure to check out USA Archery’s Virtual Symposium to connect with peers and learn something new!
