COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – USA Archery is pleased to share several exciting expansions to our United States Archery Team offerings and to announce selection procedures for 2022 and 2023 teams.
The United States Archery Team (USAT), established in 1982, consists of the top ranked archers in the country. Archers earn national ranking points at USAT Qualifier Series Events and at Indoor and Outdoor U.S. and JOAD National Target Championship events. For archers with aspirations to represent the U.S. at the Olympic, Paralympic and World Championship levels, USAT ranking helps archers track and measure their skill set and progress in competition at the national level and motivates archers to grow and improve to attain their goals.
In addition, USAT archers earn highly coveted uniforms and may also be eligible for high performance programs, athlete stipends, support programs or sponsor benefits.
Next year, USA Archery will offer youth fixed pins (formerly known as bowhunter) divisions at USAT and national events and will name the 2023 Fixed Pins USAT for the U18 (formerly cadet) and U21 (formerly junior) divisions. This initiative stems from our efforts to develop a high-performance pipeline for our collegiate archery program with nationally competitive athletes in this fast-growing division.
USA Archery will also offer barebow divisions at all USAT events in 2022 as we continue to meet growing membership interest and demand.
Qualification procedures for all 2023 USAT teams are approved and now available in USA Archery’s Resource Center. Notably, the compound senior women’s National Ranking System has been updated to remove the single-arrow average component per a thoroughly-vetted request from athletes in that division. The Para National Ranking System has updated minimum qualification scores to better reflect a measure of international success and the Para NRS now includes International Success Points.
Selection procedures for the 2022 World Games, World Archery Field Championships, World Archery 3D Championships, World University Games, Archery World Cups and other international events have also been finalized and are available in the Resource Center. U.S. Team Trials information is also published.
USA Archery’s Board of Directors has also approved updates for the following policies and procedures:
