COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – Archery is a fast-emerging sport for colleges and universities across the nation. As the National Governing Body for the Olympic and Paralympic sport of archery, USA Archery, which also oversees the national Collegiate Archery Program, has made expansion of collegiate opportunities a core focus of our outreach efforts.
Through generous support from the Easton Foundations, USA Archery is proud to offer a new grant program to build archery teams or clubs at schools that do not yet have a program. These grants, which exceed $5,000 in value, include the necessary equipment and resources to assist with the formation of an archery program.
Archery is a year-round, individual and team sport that can take place indoors and out, utilizing existing recreational spaces. The sport of archery is extremely inclusive and adaptable. Collegiate archery includes female, male and mixed teams and divisions for para archers to compete for national championships.
USA Archery’s Collegiate Archery Program is for students enrolled in a college or university. With nearly 100 programs currently engaged across the country, eligible participants can work to develop fundamental skills, compete for individual and national team championships, and earn Academic and All- American awards. Collegiate Archery Programs can be varsity teams with scholarships or club sports on campus.
Archery provides students a community with friendships that last a lifetime. This community helps with the stresses and pressures of rigorous academic pursuits, giving college students the perfect outlet, and providing schools with an innovative recruitment tool to attract the thousands of youth archers competing in developmental programs nationwide. Archery programs on campus can also increase retention and graduation rates.
