STATESBORO, GA. – World record holder Sawyer Sullivan and World Cup Stage 1 gold medalists Madison Cox and Casey Kaufhold are among hundreds of the nation’s top student-athletes set to compete in the Collegiate Target Nationals at Georgia Southern University from May 18-21.
Sullivan will switch from the red, white and blue of the United States to the burgundy of Texas A&M University (TAMU), as will Kaufhold. Cox will be in Statesboro representing the University of the Cumberlands. All have this week returned home having sparkled in the Stars and Stripes of the USA at the World Cup Stage 1 in Antalya, Turkey.
Sullivan, alongside Braden Gellenthien and James Lutz, set a new world record in the compound men’s event. The trio went on to win silver. TAMU archer Sullivan also picked up a silver in the individual compound event.
Cox went even better as she shone with Cassidy Cox and Danelle Lutz on their way to grabbing gold in the compound women’s category. Kaufhold joined forces with Brady Ellison to collect gold in the recurve mixed team. She will be joined in Georgia by her brother Conner, also representing TAMU.
University of the Cumberlands will be defending the team title earned last year, since when they have won a fifth successive USA Archery 3D Nationals title, and edged Texas A&M University for the USA Archery Collegiate Indoor Nationals crown.
Early registration fees are available through Thursday, April 27. The deadline for entry is May 4.
