TERNI, Italy - Today was all about the mixed teams. This was the first time in World 3D archery that an official mixed team event has taken place. Each team consists of the top qualifying male and female in each division. Unlike qualifications, the matches are shot on only 4 targets at unmarked distances and only 1 arrow per archer. The combined score of each archer makes up the team score.
Fawn Girard and Daniel Colloms represented USA in the barebow division. In the semifinal match against France, the two battled but lost the match by just one point (72-71), sending them into the bronze medal match against Italy. In their match for bronze, Girard and Colloms shot strong and judged well, but Italy took the win (79-72), only shooting one arrow out of the 10 ring.
Tomorrow individual elimination rounds begin. Good luck to all of the archers still competing!!
