USA Archery is honored to recognize collegiate athletes who excel as both archers and students in recognizing the recipients of the 2024 All-American Academic Team Award.
The Collegiate Archery Program gives archers a chance to compete nationwide with peers who also maintain a rigorous academic schedule. This esteemed award acknowledges not just excellence in archery, but also the diligence and dedication needed to manage a demanding practice and competition regimen while excelling academically.
Riley Marx (above right), of Texas A&M University is among those named to 2024 USA Archery Collegiate Archery Program All-American Academic Team. Marx, who is among the top eight finalists for Olympic Trials, commented, "It’s not always easy to find a balance between academics and trying to qualify for the Olympics.
“Both require a lot of time and effort and I have to sacrifice a lot to be able to do both, my days are usually pretty busy! School and archery can be demanding and difficult at times and doing both can also be overwhelming. The key to my success is when it gets hard remembering that I want to do both of these things because I love it, it’s not a requirement it’s a blessing."
The All-American Academic Team is composed of archers in each division and class and based on the following criteria:
USA Archery takes the top 25% (ranked by score) of each division and class from U.S. National Indoor Championships. Archers that are in the top 25% and who meet the minimum GPA will earn a spot on the team.
Archers named to the team will receive a certificate from USA Archery commemorating their achievements.
Collegiate Target Nationals, which take place at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga. from May 16-19, will showcase these outstanding student-athletes and we encourage you to follow along and tune into the livestream. Gold medal matches in both individual and teams will be broadcast, scheduled for 8am and 3pm EDT respectively.
