COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - USA Archery is excited to offer qualified athletes an incredible opportunity to be a part of the Rio 2016 Games. The Athletes' Advisory Council is seeking applications for Athlete Services Coordinator (ASC) to support Team USA at the Olympic and Paralympic Games next summer.
ASCs support athletes in the Athlete Village at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. As elite athletes, ASCs are in a unique position to provide advice, mentorship and serve as a resource for athletes participating in the Games. ASCs will also be in charge of managing the Athlete Services Center and creating a safe place for athletes to relax, ask questions and share experiences. This is a highly demanding role that requires great preparation in the lead up to the Games. To qualify, candidates must meet the 10-year rule (USOC Bylaws, Section 8.8.2), meaning that they must have represented the United States in Olympic, Paralympic, Pan American, Para Pan American, or another major international event within the 10 years preceding the date of the opening ceremonies for the Olympic or Paralympic Games (August 5th, 2016, and September 7th, 2016, respectively).
Individuals interested in being considered for ASC positions should send a current resume and letter of interest to Brian Olsen at [email protected] by October 30th at 5PM Mountain Time. The letter of interest must state at a minimum how the nominee meets the 10-year rule and whether the nominee is pursuing an Olympic or Paralympic ASC position.
Qualified candidates will be scheduled for an interview with the ASC Selection Committee in early November. The Athletes' Advisory Council will vote on two Athlete Services Coordinators and one alternate each for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Questions about the role or the selection process may be directed to either of the co-chairs of the ASC Interview Committee: Brian Olsen (ASC '14), 206-981-9988, [email protected] or Andrew Johnson, 801-448-3757, [email protected].
