COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Archery concluded the organization's 4th Quarter Mail-In Tournament on December 31. This event - which allows archers from across the country to participate using scores shot at their local archery clubs - offers competition for individuals and teams.
For the first time ever, USA Archery offered prizes to clubs to help drive team and individual participation, and these incentives proved successful: 35 Junior Olympic Archery Development and Adult Archery Program clubs participated, with 343 archers entered and 22 club teams competing.

Clubs earning prizes for participation were Wasting Arrows, of Reno, Nev., with the most individual archers competing; and a two-way tie between Cincinnati Junior Olympians of Mason, Ohio and Newberry JOAD of Newberry, Fla. for the most teams entered. All of these clubs will receive an American Whitetail EZ-36 Target Mat and a package of 40cm and 60cm target faces.
"Our club has monthly pin scoring rounds and although many of our kids have shot JOAD nationals, we had never really participated as a club in the mail-in tournaments," explained Kimberly Oliver of the Newberry JOAD Club. "We thought it would be great for the kids to have this opportunity to compete virtually. Many of them have been shooting together for over three years and it was one more way to make JOAD even more fun and challenging. Our club kids have earned over 100 pins this year!"
The 1st Quarter Indoor Mail-In tournament kicked off on January 15, and will run through March 31, 2014. Archers of all ages can participate, and for a very small fee enjoy the excitement of a national competition without ever leaving their local USA Archery club.
