COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - 2017 is a major year in the international archery event circuit. In addition to the annual Archery World Cup series, there is also the World Archery Championships, the World Archery Para Championships, the World Archery 3D Championships, the World Archery Youth Championships, the World Games, the World University Games, and early in 2018, the World Archery Indoor Championships.
To earn the honor of representing the U.S. at these prestigious events around the world, archers must compete in the U.S. Team Trials. Earlier this year, USA Archery released preliminary information on these trials events. We have since added the U.S. World Archery 3D Championships Team Trials, which will be a standalone event preceding the Archery Shooter's Association's Mathews Illinois Pro/Am in Metropolis, Illinois on June 22-23, 2017.
To participate in the U.S. World Archery 3D Championships Team Trials, registration is now open through 30 days prior to the Trials event. If fewer or the exact number of archers register for the Trials than spaces that are available for that division on the team, the registered archers will automatically be selected to the team and will not need to attend the trials event. If there are more archers registered in a division then spots available, those archers will be required to attend the trials event to compete for the available slots.
This past weekend at the AAE Arizona Cup, the trials process began for selecting the recurve and compound teams for the World Archery Championships and the compound team for the World Games. The complete list of U.S. Team Trials events can be found here. The complete list of Team Selection Procedures can be viewed here.
