COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - USA Archery is excited to open registration for the 2016 SoCal Showdown, presented by AAE, the third USAT Qualifier Series Event of the year. This event, which will take place June 23-26, has some very cool reasons to participate this summer, plus it will also host the final nomination shoot for the 2016 U.S. Paralympic Team Trials - stick around to cheer for your favorite Paralympians and Hopefuls on their Road to Rio, June 27th!
"Our goal is to take the event a step further in order to continue to provide that excellent and fun competition experience for our athletes as well as to move our sport forward and help it to grow," commented the team at the Easton Archery Center of Excellence, who are working hard on some exciting changes to the incredible legacy of this historically beautiful event.
"Our team here at the Easton Archery Center of Excellence are all toxophilites and going to these USAT tournaments have been highlights of our own archery careers," added Easton Foundations representative Keaton Chia. "We are thrilled to have this chance to fulfill the Easton family's and Easton Foundations' mission by giving back to our archery community and to make a positive impact on our sport. The qualification and early elimination matches will now be spread across three competition fields, accommodating more archers than ever before, including a Masters division for both Recurve and Compound. USA Archery has introduced a Masters USAT for this year, and is looking forward to seeing growth promoted through this event.
Event Organizers will also be throwing a super fun Team Finals Party! Catch up with your archery friends for good food and good company as all are invited to come watch the Team Gold Medal Matches at the new Easton Archery Center of Excellence and participate in the Roadrunner Archery Festival. Dinner tickets are available for purchase during registration.
Finally, Individual Gold Medal matches will be shot at the San Diego County Fair. A local summer favorite, over 60,000 people are expected to attend the fair during the SoCal Showdown Finals. Archery will be front and center as archers compete for gold in front of the grandstands of the Del Mar racetrack. Discounted tickets to the fair are available for purchase during registration and include full access to the fair festivities and finals matches.
Then, stick around Monday, June 27th for the final nomination shoot for the 2016 U.S. Paralympic Team Trials - Archery to support Team USA on the Road to Rio!
