COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - USA Archery is now accepting applications for the second round of 2017 Ann Hoyt and Jim Easton Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) Grants. The JOAD Grant is made possible through generous contributions from the Ann Hoyt Legacy Fund and Easton Foundations.
All current JOAD clubs in good standing are eligible and encouraged to apply. Applications must be submitted to USA Archery by August 14, 2017.
Clubs may request up to $2,000 in grant funds for items such as target butts, stands, archery equipment, general supplies, and coaching certifications. Applications are reviewed by USA Archery staff and the JOAD Committee. Grants are highly competitive; please make sure your application is as thoughtful and complete as possible.
Gina Chavez, the club director of New Mexico Chile Peppers, who recently received one of these grants, was able to purchase several recurve bows for her program: "It has been nice to get some recurve bows into the hands of not only the beginners, but even the current compound shooters. So many programs in the U.S. start with compound but it has been a great opportunity for my students to try out a new discipline."
Another recipient club, Form First Archery was also excited about the new opportunities afforded to them by the grant: "Our strategic plan is to continue to grow archers within JOAD, sustain state USA Archery JOAD tournaments, and encourage archers to expand their horizons by experiencing larger shoots."
