COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - For the first time in history, U.S. athletes will field a team for the World Archery 3D Championships. The team was selected after competing at a Trials event hosted by USA Archery and the Archery Shooters Association in conjunction with their ASA/Mathews Metropolis, IL Pro/Am event at Mermet Lake Conservation Area late last month.
Archers shot 2 arrows each at 24 targets set out to 30 meters for the longbow, instinctive bow and barebow categories and 45 meters for compound archers over two days of competition. The second day featured a strong downpour of rain. Strong scores led to the selection of a solid team for the event set to take place September 19-23 in Robion, France.
The World Archery 3D Championships is a self-funded event. The team will be led by Level 5-NTS Coach Dee Falks.
USA Archery wishes the team all the best as they prepare for the World Championship event in the upcoming months.
