Recurve Open Men and Compound Open Women Going For Bronze at Nove Mesto

NOVE MESTO, Czech Republic - This morning was team eliminations for the Para World Ranking Event. The U.S. recurve open men and compound open women's teams are both through to the bronze finals.

The recurve open men's team of Eric Bennett, Timothy Palumbo and Michael Lukow qualified second and had a bye into the quarterfinals. They took an easy 6-0 win over Poland but fell 5-3 after a close semifinal with Thailand. This weekend the team will shoot for bronze against fourth seed, Japan.

The compound open women, Teresa Wallace, Samantha Tucker and Martha Chavez seeded fourth in qualification. With four teams in the running, they began in the semifinal against the top seeded team from Russia. The Russian squad took the win 223-212 to shoot for gold while the U.S. team will face Ukraine for the bronze.

Wallace teamed up with Gabriel Marcozzi for the compound mixed team event. The duo, seeded 14th, went head to head with Great Britain for the first match and were eliminated 150-140. Lia Coryell and Chuck Lear also competed together for the W1 mixed team event and were knocked out in the first round 136-123 by Great Britain.
