MARRAKESH, Morocco - This weekend, the Indoor World Cup Series kicks off with stage one in Marrakesh, Morocco. After topping three of four senior podiums at the 2016 Indoor Archery World Cup Final, many USA archers are excited to return to this prestigious circuit.
Reigning champion Brady Ellison, Olympian Victor Wunderle, and John William Daugherty Jr. will represent the U.S. for the senior recurve men's division while Paralympian Lee Ford and Laura Bennett Shelton will compete in the women's bracket.
Alex Wifler, Braden Gellenthien, David Houser and Aaron Tedford will boast red, white and blue for the compound senior men. Gellenthien, who won this event in 2013 and 2014, took bronze last year and will look to return to the top of the podium.
The U.S. entries for compound senior women include last year's 4th place finisher, Dahlia Crook, as well as Cassidy Cox, Babette Peyton, Kali Pavlik and Margot Stuchin. Caroline McCracken will be the sole U.S. entrant in the compound junior women's competition.
Scoring will begin Saturday morning with qualification and will conclude Sunday with matches through the finals. Live scores will be available at www.worldarchery.org. For more, follow USA Archery on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
