NEWBERRY, Fla. - The Easton Newberry Sports Complex will again play host to the 4th Annual Easton Foundations Gator Cup. Beginning on Friday with official practice, with qualifications on Saturday and eliminations on Sunday, the event is seeing a record number of registered archers, from an unprecedented number of states.
310 archers will take to the field, many of them senior archers hoping to qualify for the U.S. team bound for the World Archery Championships in Turkey later this year. The cadet divisions at the Gator Cup are among the event's largest this year, continuing the trend of increased event participation across USA Archery's national events.
The Gator Cup is the third of USA Archery's
four USAT Qualifier Series Events in 2013, and will see archers competing for thousands of
dollars in prize money. With record attendance and archers vying for a
select number of spots on the national team and National Ranking System, the Florida summer and the caliber
of competition are both set to sizzle.
Archery superstars set to compete at the event include Olympic medalists Brady Ellison (Chula Vista, Calif.), Jake Kaminski (Gainesville, Fla.), Jacob Wukie (Oak Harbor, Ohio) and five time Olympian Khatuna Lorig (West Hollywood, Calif.). Look for Olympians Jennifer Nichols (Houston, Texas) and Miranda Leek (College Station, Texas) to light up the field, along with compound contenders Reo Wilde (Pocatello, Idaho), Jesse Broadwater (Jennerstown, Pa.), Braden Gellenthien (College Station, Texas), Erika Jones (Grand Island, Neb.), and Jamie Van Natta (Toledo, Ohio).
The event will be scored this year by two distinct online scoring systems: the Ianseo system for all senior and junior archers, as well as cadet male recurve archers; and the Rcherz.com system for cadet female recurve archers and both cadet compound categories.
Live scores for the Ianseo system may be accessed here: http://ianseo.net/Details.php?toId=388.
Live scores on the Rcherz.com system may be accessed here: http://rcherz.com/en/competitions/detail/1594/Easton_Foundations_Gator_Cup___a_USAT_Qualifier_Series_Event.
