COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - The eagerly anticipated 2017 indoor event season has finally arrived! Before we get to the U.S. National Indoor and JOAD National Indoor Championships, many states are hosting USA Archery state and Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) state championships where you can earn prestigious state champion titles, warm up for a bigger event, or gain great practice at your first competition. State Championships offer something for everyone!
Olympic silver medalist Jake Kaminski shared how state championships helped him get started in his archery career: "State tournaments used to be the biggest thing in my archery world, they helped me cut my teeth on some larger scale tournaments without spending the money and time it takes to get to a national event. Plus you make friends that last a lifetime, sometimes they live just down the road and you'd never know without going."
"State Championship events provide a great opportunity for archers of all skill levels to gain event experience," commented Mary Emmons, USA Archery Director of Program Development. "These fun events have the excitement of serious competition, but are still a great introductory tournament for beginner archers of any age."
All 2017 State Championship event dates and locations can be found on this page and new events will be added as they are sanctioned.
If you do not see an event listed for your state, you may contact your state association for event updates from the contact list here. If your state does not have a state association, do not worry, USA Archery can help the clubs in your state organize a state championship event!
