Phoenix, AZ - The AAE Arizona Cup is scheduled to take place March 22-25 at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility, International Target Archery Range, in Phoenix.
Over 250 of the top archers from around the world, including U.S. Olympic Team contenders, are expected to compete at the 23rd Arizona Cup in March. Olympic style archers will compete at 70 meters (77 yards), while compound bow archers will shoot at 50 meters (55 yards). Spectator parking and admission to the gallery and vendor plaza is free.
General Event Information:
March 22, Thursday: Official practice takes place in the afternoon. Competitors practice and visit with fellow archers and fans.
March 23, Friday: The qualification round, which takes place in the morning and afternoon, will rank competitors for elimination round match play. Archers compete for favorable seeding.
March 24, Saturday: Team rounds will be shot in the morning and afternoon, consisting of three person teams, mixed team (one male, one female) and open teams. Youth individual elimination matches will also take place.
March 25, Sunday: Individual eliminations in the same head to head format to be used at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and the World Archery Championships in Torino.
Competitors will include multiple U.S. Olympic Team members and medalists and World Archery Championships team members, as well as the Pan American Games winning team from Mexico. Top archers from Europe and Canada as well as youth archers from throughout the Americas are expected to compete. For U.S. archers, the AAE Arizona Cup is also the first U.S. Archery Team Qualifier Series event for 2012.
