The Coaching Development Program conducted the first Transition Regional coach course this past June. Nine coaches, one from the west region, 2 from the east region and 6 from the south region took part.
The seven day course merged the new Community Coach and the new Regional Coach courses together. Presenters included Dr. Hyoung Lee - Biofeedback; John Crowley - Planning and Periodization; Bob Romero - Global View; Dr. Megan Neyer - Sport Psychology; Dee Falks - Community Coach; National Head Coach Kisik Lee - B.E.S.T. Shot Cycle; and Sheri Rhodes - Archers with Disabilities and Strength and Conditioning.
In an effort to bring programs closer to those interested in participating, this first course was held on the campus at Emory University, which is located just east of downtown Atlanta. We utilized campus housing and dining, and our meeting room was conveniently located in the same building as our housing.
Transition Regional courses are open to coaches holding Level 3 or 4, or those who have been Level 2/Intermediate Instructors for more than 2 years. Two more courses are scheduled for later this year. October 3-9, at the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center and November 5-12, at the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center. More information is available by clicking on the "Coaching" menu.
