There are four stages included in the 2008 FITA World Cup Series:
Competition Date Location
· April 1-5, 2008 Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
· April 15-19, 2008 Porec, Croatia
· May 27-31, 2008 Antalya, Turkey
Each country is allowed four (4) people in each of the following four divisions:
· Men’s Recurve
· Women’s Recurve
· Men’s Compound
· Women’s Compound
From the above list of 4 events, each archer’s best 3 finishes will be recorded and used to determine qualification standings for the World Cup Final. Only the top 4 athletes from these standings (in each division) will be invited to the World Cup Final in October in New Delhi, India.
For 2008, USA Archery has dedicated Antalya, Turkey and Boe, France as Olympic Team training competitions. The U.S. Olympic Team in Turkey and France will be led by the Olympic Team staff. For all other events, USA Archery has no plans to provide staff. Funding for any team staff, other than that provided for above, will be the responsibility of the team members.
The remaining team members (recurve and compound) will NOT be funded by USA Archery. A deposit of $500 per event is required from each self-funded athlete by the preliminary deadline for each event. If accepted to the team, the money will be applied to the cost of the event. Any excess will be refunded. If not accepted to the team, the deposit will be refunded. If the athlete cancels from an event after the entry deadline for that event, the deposit will not be refunded.
All team spots for the compound discipline will be filled according to the following criteria listed in order of priority:
· 2007 Rolling Ranking (minimum rank of 10)
· Past participation in World Target Championships (within last 5 years)
· Minimum score of 1370 (FITA) or 685 (70M)
Note: Priority will be given to archers who commit to attending at least 3 of the 4 events (with the exception of the recurve team to Turkey and France, which will be determined as explained above).
If all spots are not filled by the process listed above, then any remaining spots will remain unfilled.
Any selected athlete who later cancels out of an event prior to the entry deadline will be replaced by the next qualified and available athlete, provided time permits.
All self-funded athletes must be prepared to pay event registration fees, housing fees, banquet fees (optional) and airfare within 15 days of the entry deadline* imposed by each event. Failure to do so will result in that athlete not being registered for the event. All event registration must be administered through the USA Archery office.
* The deposit provided by the athlete will be used for the purpose of paying these fees.
USA Archery will communicate with the host, process the registration/entry forms and assist with housing arrangements as needed. Unfunded athletes are responsible for making their own travel arrangements.
All team members in respective disciplines will wear matching apparel. Team members who do not already have matching apparel will be required to acquire matching apparel at the athletes’ expense.
